The Bees Are Happy

When Cami and I walk to the thin seasonal creek in the early afternoon, all we can hear is the low hum of bees. When we sit down and take a moment, we can see them buzzing all around us in the flowers and tall grasses. Some might call them “weeds”, but I like to think of it as a meadow. Sure, we mowed down the tall grass around the house and in a small section of the yard we play in, but for the most part– I like our meadow wild.

  1. Remember that the seeds the animals excrete will change the meadow. If you would like to maintain it in a natural way, or a portion of it, you might want to exclude the animals. Much of the state has been transformed from annual grasses to perennials by grazing cattle. It looks beautiful. It would also be classified as a wetland by biologists.
