How To Hand Feed Rabbit Kits :: video

I decided that the subject of hand feeding rabbit kits needed a little more of the spotlight since it is occupying about two hours of my day now. While feeding baby rabbits from an eye-dropper is darn cute, it is not easy and requires a lot of devotion.

Here is a link to my Rabbit Formula post with the recipe, but the “double batch” recipe is also included in the video.

  1. Thanks for sharing this video, Sarah. Sending you many good thoughts for the kits. I’m so sorry to hear about Blackberry. She was very special. I’ve given her brother extra hugs–just thinking how much I cherish him too.

  2. I’ve heard of people adding cecotropes to the mix. There is something about the babies needing the bacteria from the hindgut so that when they are weaned they do not get enteritis. I do know from the one time that a baby was stolen from me, that it did not survive though it got very large and fat on bottle-feeding…it died at 2 weeks or so. Handfeeding is so much work! And it is such a nurturing act, that it causes a lot of attachment to the baby. Best wishes.
