We have almost six pounds of heirloom tomatoes in the dehydrator to dry overnight. Why?
1. The dehydrator is annoying to listen to during the day… for ten hours straight.
2. Cami –being the typical two-year old she is– likes to stick things in the top hole of the dehydrator, which can’t be good. All that hot air has to go somewhere right?
3. I was too lazy to make ketchup or marinara sauce with all these tomatoes, but I had to do something before they started to go bad.
4. There are so many more tomatoes to make ketchup and sauces with, so six pounds dried is no biggie. I never thought there would be a day when I would say that six pounds of tomatoes was no big deal, but here we are.
It should be interesting to see how much they weigh once dried. What’s your guess? I say less than 3/4 of a pound. A 1/2 pound maybe?
