Sonora Farmers Market

This morning after breakfast (fresh maple bar donuts) the three of us drove down to the Saturday market in downtown Sonora. We picked up some good lookin’ produce for making pizzas in the cob oven tonight. Cob oven! Pizza!

Eggplant, crook-neck squash, green bell pepper, red onion, garlic, tomatoes, Thai basil, and Gold Country local honey (since our first official harvest isn’t for two more months). The basil smells absolutely heavenly!

We also picked up two tickets (Cami goes for free) for the annual Farm & Ranch Tour! On July 7th, we will be visiting:
Solomon’s Gardens to see their four-acre nursery and heirloom vegetable demonstration garden
Mother Lode Ranch for their grass fed beef cattle and horse ranch
La Bella Rosa Vineyards a winery and vineyard (we actually may not visit this one since we aren’t big drinkers or interested in wine… but yay local!)
Sweet River Ranch to visit with their Pygora goats and spinning demonstrations (maybe I can finally get some tips on adjusting tension for Angora fiber)
Rancho Torales/Sonora Gold for their extra virgin olive oils and tour through their French lavender field
